Art students from the cultural school have been working on grid enlargements and portraits of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
The students selected from several of Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait paintings, which they then worked on independently or in groups. They used pencil, and some also worked with watercolor.
The groups that created the three large paintings each worked on a part of the image, which was then assembled into a complete piece. They selected color schemes inspired by various artworks, drawing references from Elsa Beskow, Cindy Sherman, and Vincent van Gogh to guide their palettes.
In addition, one of the cultural school’s comic art students portrayed an event from Frida Kahlo’s life.
